The LogoSauce Blog
New Scoring Scheme
We just changed the scoring system (ever so slightly).
Basically the score is made up of a number of views + rating. Each view was worth 1 point in the total score.
Unfortunately to date, there have been lots of views, but limited commenting and therefore the score is unreasonably skewed to views. We want the rating iof each logo to have more impact of the total rating.
So today we have altered the scoring system slightly. Each view is now worth 1/2 a point (rather than 1)
So the total score is made up of number of views x 0.5 + rating (1 sauce bottles = -1 ,2 sauce bottles = 0, 3 sauce bottles = 1)
So if you’ve got a logo or profile listed you should note that your total score has dropped – but hopefully your position hasn’t.

I completely agree with the change. I’m merely an amateur and one of my logos is in the top 6 primarily due to views since it was an early entry back over a month ago, I think. I always felt a little badly about that.
Hi Lipstick
We decided early on (for obvious reasons) that if a logo was updated that any rating and points would be reset. It wouldn’t make sense for example if a logo was rated and then changed that the ratings would stand.
The idea of updating a logo is that you can make minor amends, usually at the time of publishing, to ensure you get your logo looking right on the site.
At logosauce we argued a bit about versioning and whether we should include some versioning functionality. We decided for the sake of simplicity to not do that.
Instead we suggest that you just upload a new version and name them v1, v2, etc. (Just like you did Lipstick). That way each version can be compared and rated.
Note that a user can update or renew their rating of a particular logo by editing their comment/rating and saving. This re rates the logo.
Hi arsagano
Yes we’ve seen some distortions of scores initially. Basically if a logo stays on the recent logos page for any length of time it will attract more views and hence a higher score. Therefore we moved to reduce the view values from 1 to 0.5.
Obviously we want the communities opinion to count for more of the score.
At thye same time we don’t want to artificially interfere with the score of any particular logo – so you benefit in this instance.
If you are concerned – what I suggest is that you update the logo which should reset the score. But note that you will no longer be able to apply it to a closed competition.

Hi Digger. I noticed when editing a logo that uploading a new image will reset the statistics. Fair enough when it comes to view points. However, I wonder if it is possible to at least keep peer review points. If somebody gives you three sauce bottles and also makes a great suggestion on improving your logo, if you go ahead and make the change you lose your peer review ratings. This seems to distort the original comment somewhat as later viewers won’t realise that the reviewer originally rated your work higher than the default of two sauce bottles. Just a thought anyway.
