No Tag Cloud!
As we were designing LogoSauce we were sure we wanted some sort of tagging capability.
This is obvious for a site that is based on a community of users adding content. Tags are an obvious and standard way these days for categorizing information for later retrieval.
Most web 2.0 sites that you look at include some form of tagging. Lots include tag clouds. A Tag Cloud is a visual representation of tags being used with the more popular tags often being larger or more dominant.
Neat idea – but the problem with tag clouds is that they encourage “Tag Cheating”. This is where a user in attempting to elevate their ranking uses a popular tag to describe their data, even if that tag has limited or zero relevance to that data.
So we decided – NO Tag Cloud – because we wanted user to be acurate when describing their data. This way search provide relevant results.
When searching the search function search all Tags as well as Logo Name Brand and Notes to produce results.
To view all logos that match a particular tag, you can either search for that word or browse a tag from a logo detail page (more on that in how-tos)
