Getting comments/ratings is hard work
It seems that getting comments is really hard. Harder than getting logos listed it seems.
As a community site, we obviously want comments. But how do we encourage our users and viewers to comment?
We’ve thought about some changes to encourage visitors to comment.
- letting visitors comment (without a logon or profile)
- allowing users to rate a logo without a comment (actually already possible)
- allow users to vote using a graphic (e.g dragging the mouse over a set of sauce bottles)
What do you think? Will any of this make a difference? Or are we all just commented out? Is asking for comments and ratings just passe.
IF you want to comment about comments – we’d love to hear from you. Just logon and comment below.
cheers – the LogoSauce team

Thanks ReDrUm.
Voting a 2 has a score of 0 – so you’re right, voting 2 is ok. However you are also right in saying that the default should be 2 when commenting.
I think we have it setup so that your own votes are not counted for a score but comments appear- but I’ll check on that. Could be something we missed.
So what is the preference folks. (1) Can’t vote on your own design or (2) Can vote with a default of 2?
Another couple of thoughts I’ve had are:
How about implementing a private message feature between members? Or am I blind and there is already such a feature?
(I’m not sure where to post site suggestions hence a PM service would be ideal)
Also how about the option to upload multiple versions of a logo listed under the one logo page, e.g. different colour schemes (origional/invert, or colour/black and white, etc) which you would then be able to view via the lightbox on each logo’s page. I don’t feel these should require their own individual logo pages as would currently be the option as the design remains the same throughout each one.
My 2 cents for the week :)
Great feedback ReDrUm.
We are working on a multiple image per ID (or logical asset) function. Has some complications but doable.
Not sure about the benfits of a PM service.
We’re happy to receive emails of suggestions or coments like this against this post under tag Forum set up for the purpose. That way the community can see and comment on suggestions also.
Keep em coming.
p.s. if you subscribe to the RSS feed for comments youll get alerted to new comments and responses to your comments.
Ahh ok good to know thanks.
Hi Digger, I’m really enjoying being part of your Logosauce community – Great Work. On the PM thing: They have such a feature on that other Site I’ve been participating in and it really is a beneficial feature. It helps to keep a thread uncluttered and on topic with comments that are mostly relevant to a given contest. Other comments that are particularly relevant to two individuals and are perhaps only tangentially relevant to the thread can be kept private and in the backgroud where background chatter ought to be. Also, the PM feature is an easy way for people to exercise some restraint in public. I’m a pretty firm believer is being positive and constructive so, most of my public communication is geared toward that: as the saying goes, ‘if you don’t have something good to say – don’t say it!). But I also see the need to set the record straight once in a while and the PM method is a gentler/face-saving way of doing so. Cheers, and thanks again for this great service and all your hard work…

I was wondering… Should the owner of a logo (e.g. one you’ve uploaded) have the option to vote on their own logos? I’ve noticed that when answering comments you are forced to vote. The default of 2 doesnt seem to affect the score however if you edit a comment the default is 3 which will increase the logos score (obviously it’s not hard to change back to 2 when editing a comment however). I feel that the owner of a design/logo shouldnt be able to influence their own score. My two cents anyway.
