How do I improve my score/rank?

Why do some logos and profiles have higher scores – when there are profiles and designs that are obviously better.

For example this logo has had a low vote but lots of views and is therefore in the Top 6. It shouldn’t really be there.

Essentially most scores have a large Views component. More time spent on key pages has a big impact on your overall score .

Consequently early adopters have had a lot of views and therefore higher scores.

In addittion, once your in the top 6 (logos or profiles) it’s hard for others to make it in there – because the top 6 naturally get more views.

However there are some things you can do to get a better score and move up the rankings.

  1. Post more logos (more logos, more views, higher score)
  2. Comment on other designs (other users will click through to your profile when reading comments)
  3. Give it time ( the longer your design is there the more views – the higher the score)
  4. Timing – try and list new designs at quiet times – your logo will appear on recent logos list longer and therefore get more views.
  5. Enter a competition (more opportunity for views)
  6. Embed a link to a logo or your profile in other websites or blogs to encourage feedback.
  7. Enter good custom tags – think about what users might search for – and make sure it’s relevant to your design.

Give it a go.

We are considering reducing the score attributed to a view (currently 0.5) in order to give more weight to Votes by users.

What do you think?

p.s If a logo does not deserve to be in the top 6 you can do something about it. Vote low and the score is reduced for that logo – pushing it down the rankings.

Nobody wants to be negative – but – honest feedback is valuable – so don’t be afraid to criticise when deserved – provided you are also prepared to praise good design.

The problem with the scoring system is that it can allow artwork to be inaccurately marked up/down making it an irrelevant feature as the design of a brand identity is relative to how it is used within design. The Nike tick, for example, isn’t necessarily a great design, but it is considered a great ident because of the way it is effective used in marketing.

I think a monthly top 6 or random selection would be a more functional use of this area of the site.

Just my two cents :)

Hey Digger. I tried to remove that logo back when talked about it’s high score before. It would only let me save over it. Have y’all created a way for me to remove logos? I would like to take it off.

Hi Arsagano

Yes you can delete. Just select one of your own logos (from ‘my profile’ or search) click ‘edit logo’ from the main (red) menu. At the bottom of the Edit page is the ‘Delete’ button. Click and confirm to permanently delete.

OK Folks – Arsagano has picked up a bug. Currently to delete a logo you need Admin access. This is obviously not right – so we’ll fix it so that a user can delete his/her own logos.

Coming soon – in the mean-time if you need a logo deleted – please email support@logosauce.com with the logo reference (see the address bar once logo displayed).

Arsagano – asked us to delete his logos in the mean-time. Thanks Arsagano.

Score is pointless, a logo works or it doesn’t. People posting logo designs that were not created by them should not be allowed.
