Change to Competitions

Hi Folks

We just rolled out a change to the site. Most of you wanted a darker background. Behold the new logo goodness.

We’ve also made several changes to the Competitions functionality (some work still being done as I speak).

You can now view and sort competitions in a variety of ways.

For example you can sort by closing date, opening date or prize money. You can also view Closed competitions (Closed), Your own competitions (Mine).

You can now comment on a competition!. This means Competition owners can add comments or guidance to designers after the competition has started or provide other feedback. Users can ask questions or make comments as well.

For Competition Owners.

  • View your own competitions separately.
  • You now pay your Prizemoney when the competition is approved. The funds are held in trust and paid to the winner by LogoSauce when you pick a winner and confirm receipt of artwork.
  • A new 10% admin fee applies to new competitions
  • Not for Profit organizations can still run free competitions
  • Non cash prizes can be offered but must have a value of over US$100 and must be approved by LogoSauce. The admin fee is 10% of the prizes value.

Private Competitions

A new feature for owners who don’t want their logo competition to be indexed by Google and other search engines or to be visible to users after the competition closes is available. Individual logos remain visible and searchable but you will not be able to link through to a competition to see all the related entries. A additional 10% fee applies to Private Competitions.

UPDATE: Comments by competition owners about their own competitions (and designers when commenting on their own designs) are now highlighted.

We’re still having a couple of issues with competitions which we’re sorting out. So please be patient if you’re having any problems. Please click my name and email me if you need assistance or have a question.

Hey Guys,

Just a thought….....how about a separate section for the improvement blog or a good name could be beta blog….........also the comps page looks pretty good to me….......and maybe a separate section for announcing winning competitions….......

Yah. The first competitions using the new prepayment method have come through. Morning after the update and there has been 6 new comps listed since the change. 2 are now paid. 4 remain waiting payment by the competition owner. It’s a good start and it seems everyone is ok with the change.

Paypal really sting us on the fees though – we’re paying 3.9% plus US30c. Ouch. I here Amazon is looking to roll out a competitor to Paypal – it’ll be interesting to see what there pricing will be.

Friday night. Just fixed the issue with Private Comps not visible. All good now.

Looks like Amazon did roll out their competitor – unfortunately it’s the same pricing!

Hi. I am still trying to sort out how payment is made now. I won the flogg.it contest but don’t know who is responsible for remitting payment. I have emailed LS but I don’t know if the email has been received (it would be great if we could private message instead of emailing). I can’t release the files until payment has been received. Help is appreciated!

Hi. I find logosauce’s communication system strange because one doesn’t know how to get an answer, as there is only support@logosauce and they seem very slow. I have sent an e-mail to support@logosauce on May 7 and May 9 on a rather urgent matter and have had no response. My competition (BMLS) closed on May 8 and the comments said “the winner is being chosen”. No one has been in touch with me and I don’t know how I am supposed to participate. I have chosen a design but I need to straighten out an important detail with the designer. The latter is not replying either to two e-mails from me. How is this going to be concluded? Where is your communication? – Professor, BMLS.
