5000 Logos breached

Yahoo! (sorry Yahoo)

Logosauce has passed the 5000 logo mark (now 5007 logos uploaded).

Stats to date:

  • 5007 logos/designs
  • 1440 profiles/registered users
  • 117 design competitions
  • US$10,000+ in prize money awarded

Well done to you all and we’ve got some great new ideas on the way. Check out the Tee-Shirt comp and look out for the winning design when we make it available for purchase in a few weeks.

p.s if anybody can recommend a great Tee-Shirt supplier/printer, preferably one that can ship globally – please let me know.

Comments for 5000 Logos breached

By Marcos over 10 months ago

Congratulations to all! :D

By Marcos over 10 months ago

Hey again Digger. That’s nothing to do with this post but its just that everytime I’m loggin in I mark the option “remember me”, but when I close the site and enter again, I have to log in again… You know if this happen only to me or it’s a error or so? Thanks

By xpressions over 10 months ago

Congrats on the milestone! However, and I say this with all due respect to everyone, I think the quality of some of the entries needs to be looked into, especially for the most recent contests.

By Marcos over 10 months ago

I totally agree with you, xpressions. Things like that can’t be serious http://www.logosauce.com/profiles/1326

Maybe it’s funny at first, but it starts to annoy me.

By onesummer over 10 months ago

I agree with Marcos and xpressions..stufflike that should not be tolerated. brings down the site and will deter potential clients from holding contests. entries should be screened for offensive material….

By Digger over 10 months ago

I agree – someone just needs to report it (see the “Report” button to the right of comments).

Unfortunately I don’t get to see all profiles, entries and can’t vet them all. So I’m relying on you guys to alert us when something like this crops up.

By Digger over 10 months ago

p.s have written to the offending profile owner, locked his profile and deleted what I see as offensive logos.

By Digger over 10 months ago

p.s.s Actually I’ve had a another look at the designs …and really they all LOOK like the guy is taking the micky – not a serious attempt at design at all. Though you’d have to say his style is consistent. So I’ve deleted the profile altogether.

By onesummer over 10 months ago

good call. On another note, do you think if you took a profile’s “total rating” or “total views” and divide it by the # of logos uploaded to one’s profile, would it not more accurately represent how “good” a profile’s portfolio is? I mean the lower # of logos one has but the higher the # of views/good comments the better the designer, right? Whereas right now you’ve got some guys uploading a gazillion logos and just because they have more logos uploaded they get more hits (i.e. because they have more to click on).

By Edie over 10 months ago

I agree with onesummer. And maybe do something with invisible comments?

By Davidoff over 10 months ago

What’s happen with the Norben comp? We can’t see it anymore and no winner has been chosen

By onesummer over 10 months ago

oh and I forgot to add that you may also want to take into account how long each logo has been “on display” for when calculating profile “ratings” since obviously, the longer a logo has been viewable, the more chances it has to be clicked on. just my two cents…thanks.

By Digger over 10 months ago

We’re still going to do the Kharma rating thing which should address most of these issues. Just need to find the time to get it done. Don’t want to go down the invisible comments route – but you can “Report” bad logos, profiles.

I’ll chase the Norben guys up.

By onesummer over 10 months ago

sounds good to me. looking forward to it for sure.

By dady over 10 months ago

what do you say about a page to see all the competitions winners? and a page with suggestions about the contests, ratings, scores, views…etc

By nightride over 10 months ago

the report doesn’t work, i got a Delivery Failure notice.. and with the score, i think there should be more facts to be considered when the calculations for a score is made. there are people with bad logos, people who should learn more before even posting a logo, that have a high score just because they have a lot of logos and a lot of views. if it’s ok, i will send an e-mail with a few suggestions :)

By Digger over 10 months ago

Hi Nightride

Search for Kharma here on the blog with discussion about how to deal with poor designs and more “qualified” scores

By Davidoff over 10 months ago

Hey Digger, we need some news about the closed comp (closed in june july etc.) no winner has been announced yet. What’s happen with this CH ?

By nightride over 10 months ago

Digger, i found it. i’ll read it all and e-mail you a suggestion list. also, for discussions i think a forum facility could be very useful. so then you don’t have to search blog entries to continue a discussion.

another thing: when i viewed the Paul Properties competition today, the entries were not in descending order.. what’s happened?

By Edie over 10 months ago

I agree about forum facility. And what happened with Parallel properties comp?

By nightride over 10 months ago

yeah, what happened with it?

By Digger over 9 months ago

Whoops sorry – we’ve changed the sort order of competitions so that the latest entry is first and so on – makes it easier to keep up with new entries and views are spread more evenly across all entries.

Re a forum – no intention to do that here right now.

By nightride over 9 months ago

ok.. then how about comments under the user’s profile. maybe each user to be able to manage those comments?

LE: and a suggestion: if a user is logged in, to have the option to arrange logos in a competition in whatever order he wants. but default to remain random.

By nightride over 9 months ago

and a public favorites list? for who wants that of course :)

By onesummer over 9 months ago

Digger, Parallel properties is still missing, i went through all pages of closed competitions, and did not find it. This is not the first time a competition has been M.I.A…...

By gratargn over 9 months ago

Congrats Digger on the site. Just like to add my comment about the closed comps that are taking ages to announce a winner.

By WizardBGR over 9 months ago

I don’t know about you guys but I am desperately willing to know the results of so many competitions that have been closed from months or up and there is no word from contest holders… I was wondering if there is any possibility to make something like “penalty winner” or something… As far as I know, before every competition to be started, contest holder transfers money to Logosauce’s PayPal account… SO if contest holder is not telling who is the winner longer than a month, then the prize goes to the highest scored logo… That will make some people think before they abandon their competitions.

And I was wondering why so many contest dissapear from the list – Norben, Parallel Properties…??? What the heck is going on? This is starting to look like the Twilight Zone…

By Digger over 9 months ago

WizardBGR

If the competition is marked Private by the competition owner it dissapears 7 days after close date. See this post about it: http://www.logosauce.com/blog/2007/7/31/change-to-competitions

By xpressions over 9 months ago

I think it makes more sense for the private competitions to dissapear AFTER a winner is selected and the designers are aware of it, no?

By Edie over 9 months ago

I found a winner for parallel properties. I guess that competition disappeared a second after announcement :)

By SebbDesign over 9 months ago

Who won digitalstar competition??

By xpressions over 9 months ago

Who won, Edie? I am not sifting through all the entries. It should be clearly marked, somewhere.

By tb1alexc over 9 months ago

the ordering of the logos has changed, they arent displayed by score nemore! why? can u fix it?

By onesummer over 9 months ago

tb1, they’re displayed by date entered, most recent first, which is the correct way to do it. displaying it by the logosauce “score” is inappropriate as it could influence the CH into choosing a design just because it has a high score, however, we hope the CH is above that and can base his decision solely on the quality of the design and not by what others think of it. the “score” a logo has can easily be exploited and raised since registration is free on this site, so technically a high score does not necessarily mean it is a “good” logo.

By Digger over 9 months ago

Excellent resspone onesummer , couldn’t have said it better.

By tb1alexc over 9 months ago

onesummer, ok get ya now lol! jus when i eentered they were in order of score! ta
