The LogoSauce Blog
Competitions - Getting Paid
Once a competition is closed and winner has been chosen what is the process?
When a competition closes the competition owner (client) selects the winner, then -
- An email is sent to the winner (cc to client)
- The designer sends finished art files to the client.
- The designer should send Paypal address to support@logosauce.com
- The client confirms receipt of artwork to support@logosauce.com
- Logosauce pays designer via Paypal
Notes:
- Payments are processed manually by Logosauce so please allow some time for this to be done. This may take several days to complete. If you’re concerned about delays – contact Logosauce.
- Remember that Logosauce holds prize money in trust for all competitions started after 2 August.
- Paypal is the only method we use for payment or receipt of prize money

Ladies and gentlemen, please think about those designers like me whose countries DO NOT support PayPal (or PayPal does not support them)... I stopped to post here because I won two competitions and had HELL of hard times till I got my money back. Excuse me, but not all of here presented designers have possibility to receive PayPal-money – it is discriminative in some way, don’t you think so? We are no second-hand designers – so do not treat us like that… I don’t think that Western Union or bank transfer will be such pain-in-the-you-know-what…
i agree with WizardBGR . My country not support PayPal. I won one competition and i still didnt get my money. :( I know my country support Moneybookers.com (same as PayPal – support more countys). WizardBGR check if your country support Moneybookers.com.
Guys – we use Paypal because it saves us time. There are lots of other payment methods out there – but that means I have to get the money out of Paypal (which costs) into the LS bank account, then transfer to another payment system (more fees), signup or visit an offline office, pay the money in and then transfer (more costs) and a pain the neck and time consuming.
We say up front that prize money is by Paypal and all prize money is paid to Logosauce via Paypal.
This is becoming a real pain – so I might revert back to the time when we didn’t collect the prize money in advance. It will be up to the competition owner. Under consideration for now.
For those who have emailed me – I’ll try to deal with your requests.
Digger, I greatly appreciate LS getting the money upfront; it guarantees the design winner will get paid. I’d rather not see that go away. I see so many contests on other sites that are abandoned, ended, etc. where no prize money is every given out due to the fact that it is not held upfront. The way I see it is that LogoSauce has been a free service for us to use and enter into contests, not to mention it has an extremely nice interface compared to other contest sites, which are mostly forum based. Plus, there are zero ads on this site. So, from my standpoint, Logosauce does not owe participants anything, I say they should continue doing things how they want to do them. If you can’t accept paypal payments, well then don’t participate in the contests.
Thanks Onesummer – that was exactly our point when we asked for the money up front – to protect the designer.
Might consider using standard credit card processing which give us more flexibility in paying out. I have to look at the costs.
you could always factor in costs by increasing the minimum amount of prize offered by contest holders. Or for those designers who can’t accept paypal, subtract the costs from their price money (at least then they can get prize money, albeit not as much, but still. something’s better than nothing)
Agree with onesummer. LS can cuts the price to pay the transaction if the winners can’t accept paypal.I think designers don’t mind too.
Absolutely!
Agree with onesummer, andre and WizardBGR!
THe contest below is the reason why I do not believe a Contest holder should be allowed to simple pick his own design as the winner, thus avoiding having to pay prize money:

it is downright ridiculous that this guy is allowed, after a 3 MONTH contest, to simply upload his own logo and choose it as a winner. it’s obvious he had no intention on choosing a real winner and abused this site in order to see others’ ideas and work. what a complete waste of time.
I have been trying to contact support for several days. I chose a winner for my competition and the winner has failed to deliver the necessary files for the competition. I have not heard from the designer or logosauge. I feel as though I have been screwed out of my competition money. At least allow me to re-open the competition or give me my money back. I feel as though I have been ripped off!
Hi Nathan (Hurley6x)
I see in a comment that you complained that you have not had a reply to emails.
I’ve had a look at our email but can find no email receipt from you – can you please check that you have sent emails correctly and that you are not including any bad stuff that our spam filters might reject.
Otherwise trying messaging me via my profile (Digger)
Regards Digger
p.s Hurley6x – which is your competition?
@Digger: Why is that competitions not linked to LogoSauce IDs, as in the case of designers? (needing you to ask…)
But why there are still abandoned contest in here?Although now LS have hold the prize money?
I enetered and won the Vitality Creative contest and I still have not received payment. The CH has nto returned my emails and neither has support@logosauce. Can someone tell me if i have missed something here. I also have blindly emailed my designs to the CH in AI format. The contest has also mysteriously dissapeared from the competition section as well. Thanks
@ kernal, vitality is private competition. Link to that competition will dissapear after days or after competition have won. Try to contact Digger (site owner) in private message from his profile. The prize money now held Logosauce.Maybe u need for some weeks after announced to get your payment. Thanks

So what’s the procedure when no logo is chosen and the competition owner does a runner?
