Problem with Scores
Hi Guys
A number of users have been reporting problems with scores changing on their designs. There has been no code change to cause this but we have had some outages.
We think the outages have meant that we have lost some score data in the database and therefore you may have seen some unusual score behaviour. Unfortunately there is not much we can do about this as the data has been lost.
We’re looking at how we can prevent this in the future and will keep you posted. In the mean-time it’s business as usual.

I concur. i got two comments and my viewcount is 1 on one of my entries.
most of my recent scores just got reset to 0 :S
I just noticed that myself when logging in tonight, on recent submissions from the last 2 weeks and competitions I entered recently.
Update: Steve seems to have found the problem. Relates to a change we made on the server infrastructure a couple of weeks ago.
Steve explains:
_….This means that in the logo_views table, there is one record per logo_id and ip_address combination.
However, there is also a cached field in the logos table called num_views which does not make this distinction.
This num_views field is updated to the correct value (derived from logo_views) whenever the a comment is added or modified, or the logo is updated.
Hence, an artificially high view count (by the same people viewing the logo again) being reset to it’s correct value whenever the logo changes.
This did not bite us before as the cached statistics were being regenerated for every logo any time any logo was modified, which kept the time between re-synching the logo count small. For a performance gain I changed this to regenerate only the logo in question, hence the big gap now being noticed._
A fix for this will be forthcoming soon folks.
So what all this means is that score climb “artificially” higher until an update to the logo is made or a comment added. At the point the score is refreshed and show CORRECTLY after refresh.
You can check the score of each logo by dding together: number of view/4 plus 1 point for each 3 bottle rating, plus 0 for each 2 bottle rating , minus 1 for each 1 bottle rating = total score.

I have at least two representative examples which i can not clarify with this explanation (if i understand well)
http://logosauce.com/logos/14265 100 points are for winning contests, so there is 6 comments and 1 view. (score is 3 + 100).

my issue sounds like it’sgoing to get fixed via the fix that’s forthcoming, but here it is anyway:

All logos to zero?! I don’t like that idea.
Hi Digger, All my logos have reset, my views have reset and all comments lost!! Please help????
From what I can tell, all of the logos that I posted after January 17th have reset to Zero. The logos before that date seem to be as they were before.
And setting ALL logos back to zero…..that would so, so unfair to us veterans. I hope that’s not what happens.
Digger, I also clicked on Edie’s links and it says I’m not logged in when I am.
I take it there is a moratorium on the whole view count/score thing…?
