The problem with Brands of the World and others

If you’re looking for a listing of logos with possible access to artwork, there are a couple of relatively popular sites you can look at.

  1. Wikipedia’s brand of the world page
  2. brandsoftheworld.com

The problem with these sites is that the listing are not necessarily endorsed by the owner of the brand, nor are they necessarily up to date. Read more…

Local Government goes nuts on logos

Here in Auckland this week th Auckland City Council has been lambasted in the press for spending $25k to $1m on a new logo. (design, registration and rebranding of stationery, buildings etc).

Commentators and the public can’t understand how their council can waste so much, nor why their rates should be wasted on a new logo when the existing one was perfectly fine in a period when annual rates increases have been in the order of 10%. Read more…

Apple challenges new Woolworths logo

Attorneys for Apple have begun a legal response against the largest supermarket chain in Australia over a logo the electronics company says is too similar to its own iconic trademark.

Woolworths Supermarkets announced in August 2008 that it would revamp its corporate branding strategy with a new logo, among other changes. Read more…
