Profile: RIck Jordan
Company:
Opens: 18 December 2007
Closes: 05 January 2008
Prize value: US$150.00
Details:
Get ‘Em Girls (https://getemgirls.com) is a boutique media company in New York, N.Y. that is set to be the definitive online and lifestyle media company for influential, affluent, trend-setting women of color, ages 18-45 with the new launch of a re-designed and re-positioned website in the Spring of 2008. As a result, the Get ‘Em Girls brand (www.getemgirls.com) is looking for a new logo design that can capture the spirit of the Get ‘Em Girl through brand identity designed around our existing logo which can be viewed here:

The logo will be used in print (business cards, letterhead, advertisements) and online (website and newsletters).
A Get ‘Em Girl is defined in our themes as:
- Inspired
- Sassy
- Passionate
- Affluent
- Influential
- Progressive
- Professional
Brand Identity Notes:
- The Get ‘Em Girls logo should contain a recreation of the “G” symbol, as the first letter and must work with just the “G” alone as well as with the entire name.
- The logo should remain professional, yet fun.
- Please avoid logos that are too cartoony; while the Get ‘Em Girls subscribers are mainly young and trendy, we would like for the logo to appeal to our mature and stylish subscribers as well.
• Our brand colors are pink and brown; however, the new Get ‘Em Girls website will be made up of our brand colors, as well as colors that reflect each section. With that in mind, we encourage artistic freedom when choosing colors as well as fonts for the logo.

Comments:
I guess they don’t like any of the submissions. That’s unfortunate because I think several fit what they’re looking for. It also seems that Rick Jordan may be the broker for the logo design work. If that’s the case, it’s possible that the client may not have selected what they like yet or the logos were being presented on spec to see if the job was going to actually become one. Let’s hope it does happen.
I emailed the comp holder a couple days ago to ask him to give us an update. Didn’t get a reply. Note that this is the 2nd comp that “Rick Jordan” has left hanging (the other is NaraKid).
1 day is left to the end of contest. I would like to ask “emperyalz” to give some feedback to the logos that are potential winners. Thanks. :)
I just wanted to make the buyer aware that the color breakdowns selected will not print the same on paper since they are web colors. Can you give us the PMS/Spot color number for the web colors you have selected?
First off, Happy Holidays to everyone and thank you for your submissions!
After reviewing the submissions, the client is impressed with a few, but we still haven’t found “that one” yet. Once again, I must stress that the logo should be clean and professional. Also, please keep in mind that the Get ‘Em Girls brand is not just limited to food or cooking. The brand is growing from the cookbook into a lifestyle website that encompasses much more than just cooking (green living, fitness, home improvement, financial, relationships, business, fashion, cooking, etc.)
So we are looking for a logo that can represent a lifestyle for affluent women. I cannot stress this enough.Think Oprah, Martha Stewart, Rachel Ray, Emeril, etc…
We also don’t want to limit you guys, we simple placed up the font, style and color of our current logo (pic). Go be creative, and make your own. I think most submissions are trying to all look the same. The G needs to be prominent, it needs to be able to be a stand alone, but thats about as much of a fence that I will build. Just stay in the yard, because it’s pretty big. You guys are the creative ones so i don’t want to limit your creativity. Feel free to experiment with the fonts, styles, colors, layouts of your choice. We are trying to view something new and fresh!
We like feedback from the person managing the competition for your particular brand. Remember, the more feedback emperyalz you give throughout the design process, the better the logo you get, so keep everyone informed. :)
At this point in the competition, we think that most of the designers are not headed in the right direction. We are looking to make the logo “more professional” and modern. So please, “no sexy women in the logo” (lol!).
The logo cannot be cheesy in anyway. Crisp, Clean, Stylish would be the best ways to describe what we are shooting for. We are not looking for props like hats, glitter, bling, cooking utensils, etc. The brand is growing from the cookbook into a lifestyle website that encompasses much more than just cooking (green living, fitness, home improvement, financial, relationships, business, fashion, cooking, etc.) So we are looking for a logo that can represent a lifestyle for affluent women.
Think Oprah, Martha Stewart, Rachel Ray, Emeril, etc…
Thanks guys, we really appreciate your designs and hard work.
Go be creative!
hey guys did you even “look” at the website?
the designs I see here are making the company cheap, no offense though!
but there are a couple (4 only) that great

The ‘g’ on the website is different now, though. They changed the bottom of the g to show the back of it wrapping over a bit in a different color. I figured this was their new choice, but maybe you’re right Chris and they just haven’t decided yet.
