Delicious Real Estate

Opens: 25 April 2008
Closes: 14 May 2008
Prize value: US$250.00
Details:
This is a new Real Estate Brokerage (company) being formed in Columbus, Ohio. We help sellers sell their home and buyers buy homes. We hope to compete with the big boys like Coldwell Banker, Century 21, ReMax, etc. locally and, eventually, regionally and nationally. The name is a bit silly and fun but we are a Professional Full Service Real Estate Company.
From first time home buyers to experienced move-up buyers, we will service everyone’s real estate needs. Our Primary target audience is younger, web savvy professionals with Real Estate needs. Our niche/focus is on real estate technology and real estate experience and professionalism from smarter than your average Realtors. We want these people to consider using us over a more established company because we’re smarter, more nimble, more tech savvy and more like them. We are not a mom and pop or fly-by-night real estate company. We are in it for the long haul and intend to build a first class brand. We are embracing web 2.0 as it relates to real estate and social networking.
While being smarter, more outside the box, and more tech savvy and transparent than most real estate companies we are also fun, witty and clever. I’m leaving every creative idea open so as not inhibit but I don’t want silly. Remember that we have no identity currently as far as the consumer is concerned and we’re competing in a sector with long established brands and Realtors who themselves have become brands. We want consumers and other Realtors to think that our firm is the place to be. We are not bottom feeders but don’t market Delicious Real Estate as a luxury brand, though we like luxury-type listings.
No tagline to date. I see the logo being colorful. Name and Logo appears on everything from yard signs to internet to folders, to business cards to documents, etc. I’m not in love with simply using the name as a logo but I’m not against it either. Feel free to email with questions, comments or concerns and thank you.

Soooo… which one was chosen?
I’m going to pick one of the logos today and it’s one that I’ve warmed up to over the course of the last few weeks. I wouldn’t have thought that I’d pick it but in the end, it seems the most utilitarian. It’s different enough, at least locally, it’s cute enough without coming close to being too cute and it has no obvious food connotations while being very marketable. thanks again to everyone for their creative juices.
If my one of my submissions is among your choices I have no trouble making additional changes to the logo either.
Kind regards,
Roel
Well if mine is in the top four let me know. You have my email address. I can do editing there.
OK, the truth is, i’m having a hard time deciding. i have it narrowed down to about four. the four are the ones i think will work the best in the real world, but may not neccessarily be my favorite logos. Each one, though, seems to have some caveat attached with it which is why i don’t have a clear front runner to pick and end the contest. I have to go back and read the rules about asking people to tweak the designs after the contest is closed. I really do love so many different designs but in the end, the more delicious food inspired ideas seem to lose their panache because they’re just too obvious and not real estate enough.
It’s the last day of the competition and I wanted to genuinely thank everyone for their hard work and the time they devoted to making this a very successful contest. I like so many different concepts that it won’t be easy to make a definitive choice. Best of luck to everyone and if you’re in the market for a new home . . . .
looking over the 15 i have marked as favorites, i can’t really say there is a theme. i like strong, simple, professional and slighly outrageous with bold images or no images. The company, because of the name, has a built in mandate to prove we’re better Realtors providing more intelligent counsel to our clients. Because of that, I will probably end up going with something more middle of the road to simple/professional looking than not. A clever logo can bridge the gap though and it’s still wide open.
I’ve been really enjoying the concepts coming on line each day. I will try to go around and comment on most everything as we head into the last five days.
I placed some other logos up. Let me know your feedback. Thanks!
Joe, if you’re still out there, I just added one I would love to get your comments on.
I added in some new entries when you get the time.
Thanks!
Sincerely,

Thanks to everyone so far. I have tried to go around and provide some feedback to most. I’m not too sure I’ve had an A-HA! moment with anything quite yet. Looking forward to the next influx of ideas.
some one asked me the following and i thought i should reply to everyone: —-could you give me a few reasons why you chose the name ‘delicious’.....??... What does the name mean to you?
As a Realtor looking to start their own company, there are a couple ways to go. One way would be to open a Franchise-ala ReMax or you could start your own. I want to build something from the ground up. I want to get away from the stodgey corporate names like Coldwell Banker and build something brandable, nimble and hot, at least as hot as a real estate company can be. I don’t know why I’ve been enamored with the name Delicious Real Estate, it just came to me one day and I haven’t been able to get rid of it. I’ve taken flack from almost every single person I’ve shared the name with. No one likes it initially but many do come to quickly appreciate the utility and excitement of the name. I think it’s smart and marketable and can take many different forms for many different potential clients. What does the name mean to me? I don’t know yet. Right now, it’s the epitome of a world class real estate brokerage business model but next month it may mean something else and I want it to mean something to everyone who could be a client.
So far, so good. i like all seven entries so far. I like the key in the shape of the @, I like the color and bite mark, I like server w/ platter concept and the silverware idea. Not knowing what to expect, and with no real pre-conceived notions, I’m pleased after one day. Looking forward to many more concepts and a few more days to give myself perspective and further consideration so I can comment specifically and provide better feedback.

I’m sorry this competition isn’t closed yet. i went with http://www.logosauce.com/logos/20397 but I’m not able to close out the competition due to technical difficulties. Digger is working on it.
