The Brief
The company name is Pulpix. The logo should say the name of the product, Pulpix. Pulpix is the composition of two words: pulp and pixel. Pulp is the traditional material used to make paper, and pixels are, well, pixels. The “slogan” (which could or not be part of the logo) is “We make paper from pixels”. The logo should convey the following identity:
- green
- ecofriendly
- futuristic
- elite
Typography is important to us. Other than that we will leave it to your creativity.
Pulpix is an online publishing platform. Submit your magazine, newspaper, brochure, white paper in any format (microsoft office, open office, pdf, jpeg), and it will be converted in an online format compatible with 98% of Internet browsers. Once your document is converted, you can add multimedia to it (sound, video) as well as internal and external links. The converted document will be available online with no download.
Pulpix will be the market leader for online publishing:
Most of the competitors in this field have chosen to have a name that contains the word “paper”, with some kind of variation on how to describe the digital format. We chose an original name.
Most of the competitors have chosen to have a half-quality product. Often they probably have one programmer making the design, the back-end and the front-end. We chose to find the best player in each field, and have them do what they do best. This is what we hope to find here :)
Good luck to everyone in your submissions. We hope our description was as free of restrictions as possible, in order to give you the opportunity to use your creativity to its full extent.

Would be great to hear individual feedback on our logo. Thanks, Ezie

Yes, I am about to finish my work day, I will spend a bit of time to review todays logos. Thanks to all for your submissions and your hard work :)
over 3 years agobob_gratton:
After reviewing all the submissions, first of all, thanks again. As a general comment over all the logos, I would like to point out that even though I like the green colour and all its shades, the logo is absolutely not required to be entirely green, or even contain green at all. In the initial specifications it is mentioned that the company is “green and eco-friendly”. Maybe green was not the most appropriate word, but in my native language, french, we often say that an idea or a company’s practises are green to mean that they are geared towards a better environment.

It would be cool if someone could take inspiration from these two Pulpix submissions:
this one
and that one
And magically fuse them together :)

Think CMYK, RGB, stuff like that… print vs display etc

Bob,
over 3 years agoI have to say, your’s is some of the best feedback by a contest holder we’ve had for some time – prompt, insightful, and most importantly, supportive overall. Kudos!
bob_gratton:
Yes Steve. About that, I would like to post in the general comments something that belongs more here. Cheketere asked:
“Bob I like to know, if you decide the winner by your own or you gonna to present to others people.. this way we all know if worth make new concepts or just make combinations of the other people ideas”
To which I answered:
it’s always better to make new concepts. even though there have been some very very nice logos, there still has to come a logo where i would like to say: “ok stop the competition this is the winner”.
and yes, i have been showing the logos to various people and have been getting comments on that too. as you can see i am trying to pass as much feedback as early as possible so that the fine artists on this website know in which direction to go.
over 3 years agobob_gratton:
Thanks for the advice LogoFreek :) I have modified my comment. You are perfectly right, it is too early to declare anything. I will be simply giving as much constructive feedback as possible :)

Hello there Bob, Please review this question: Are u sure the slogan should be “We make paper from pixels†? … Since PULPIX converts graphic printed paper to digital media, the slogan shouldn’t be then something like: “We make pixels from paper†or “We make paper in to pixels”…..
over 3 years agoJust a thought…
bob_gratton:
TAVO thanks for your question. You are not the first person to ask that. Unfortunately you can still not see what the final version will look like because it is still in development. You might want to look at one of our competitors. Have a look at this document here
As you can see, the final result still looks like a paper. You can flip the pages by dragging the corners, and the result looks like an actual magazine. But this illusion of paper is made with the pixels of your monitor. I hope this makes it clearer.

Thanks Bob!!! Totally understand the concept now… and really think you have enlighten many of us… This competitions is getting better and better!!! Good energy to all!!!

I would have to say that bob is probably the best competition holder I have seen, I don’t think there is a single entry that he has not left feedback for! Judging by the amount of quality submissions, it shows how important feedback is.
over 3 years agocheketere:
Bob the finish of competition is near. Would you tell us your favorites soon? I mean if you tell us wich concepts are near of what you want, we can work this few days improving the presented concepts, instead bring new less developed concepts
over 3 years agobob_gratton:
Yes. First of all, thank you all again for your submissions. I’m sure you all worked very hard to create and revise them. Also thanks for letting me in your community. I want to mention that I like how all the artists here support each other. It makes the competition very enjoyable.
Here are my top favourite logos. I haven’t listed their variations if there are any. I have not listed them in order of preference, simply in the reverse order that they were submitted:
logo
logo
logo
logo
logo
logo
logo
logo
I might have missed some, as I just had to go through all the list in order to answer your question. I had never thought of bookmarking my favourites.
over 3 years agobob_gratton:
Thanks to everyone for your submissions. I’ve rechecked them all one by one since the competition closed, and I figured out the top 5 designs. I will tell you the winner by tomorrow.
Thanks!
over 3 years agocheketere:
could you reduce the spectation and show your top 5
over 3 years agobob_gratton:
Yes. I’ve reduced it to 3 logos. This one by Atini, this one by mia and this one by AlexWende
The common point between these 3 logos (besides that I like them the most) is that they have an icon separate from the name, and I’ve come to realize that this might be desirable. I will be showing the logo to a few people, and I promise that Monday you will have a final answer.
Thanks everyone!
over 3 years agocheketere:
In my poor opinion I vote for Alex Wende logo its really a great one entrie the other two are great too but I like more AW logo. Nice comp this one, most part thank to Bob great feedback. thanks everybody who participates
over 3 years agobob_gratton:
