This is just a sampling of product categories to give you a basic idea of what we are trying to do.
The following are guidelines, they are not rules by any means, if you want to do something totally outside the realm of our guidelines, go for it, we encourage new ideas, and always value some fresh perspective.
We are looking for something very iconic and recognizable, even without the name of the company shown. We are considering the following tag line, but are not 100% sure about it: “Tough Products to do Tough Work” This should be incorportated into the logo, because there will be a tag line, just not sure if this is the right one (we tend to think it makes us sound like a mfg).
We think the logo should be very corporate, yet powerful, and have some kind of feeling of power, and also be very simple. The actual site that it will resemble is www.Lowes.com, not the product pages or category, but the overall design and homepage will be similar.
As far as colors go, we are leaning towards the following color palette:
Dominant Colors: 4f919f
Accent Color: 01253d
Accent Color: e7000a
Accent color: fbde8e
(remember these are just guidelines)
Any questions, shoot me an email…..Good Luck and Looking forward to seeing your work!!!

Will Also be needing business cards for this company, so please try to incorporate a card design into the regular design.
over 3 years agoHippo:
Don’t get me wrong here, and please don’t be offended. But if you want a DB sided business card with a logo for every single design posted on here maybe you should offer more money than pretty much the min required. I’m sure the designers would like to think that if there logo was picked then they could make a few more $ doing the busi card, and i’m sure your charging your client more than 250 for the logo and busi card, cheers.
over 3 years agoTourcat:
David, could you provide some examples of “contemporary web 2.0” logos that you admire? Thanks ;)
over 3 years agonetixchange:
Hippo, Actually I am the business owner…….this is not for a 3rd party client. I own all of the business that we ask logos for, so I am not reselling your service/product. As for your specific request, I would be willing to increase the prize by $100.00, let me shoot an email to david and ask him to change it. Thanks for bringing that to my attention, and there are no hard feelings, I wouldnt want anyone to feel like they are being taken advantage of.
over 3 years agonetixchange:
Tourcat, actually, I had requested that that particular statement be taken out, so please disregard it.
over 3 years agonetixchange:
Also, the business card thing is optional, we can do that with the people who do our cards very easily, just wanted to see everyone’s personal take on a biz card.
over 3 years agonetixchange:
We are really liking the orange and black, didnt really consider it as a color palette until now.
over 3 years agonetixchange:
Alright, we changed the prize to $350…..
over 3 years agoDigger:
Client has increased prize money to US$350
over 3 years agonetixchange:
At this time I would like to remove all color palette notes. Please use the color palette that you see fit.
over 3 years agonetixchange:
Please note that, we do want a strong corporate logo, but we also want it to be contemporary, and have a contemporary color palette.
over 3 years agonetixchange:
I think there are enough sprocket type logo’s…..Please try to use a different icon.
over 3 years agoBrightSprak:
So do I have to change my design because lots of other people used the gears cogs? I have had lots of good feedback, from people not on this site, about it and was just wondering if you are discarding all the ones with that symbol in it?
over 3 years agonetixchange:
Ricco. I just think there is enough cogs/gears. To be honest, we probably wouldnt use something with cogs or gears. Our product line is going to be very wide, so a cog/gear doesnt really say much about our product offering, therefore does not really add value.
over 3 years agoblacklab:
LMAO, should have said that the first time.
over 3 years agoAdamBurney:
I get exactly what netixchage is talking about….some things are just becoming cliche to me and highly over used. if everyone is having the same ideas…where is the creativity?
over 3 years agoBrightSprak:
sorry I didn’t mean to post that 3 times my internet was being weird this weekend, yeh I get what you mean I shall try something new and you were very polite thanks its just when someone says its the best logo I’ve done and its not gonna get used it kinda sucks, but hopefully my new one will be better ;)
over 3 years agonetixchange:
no biggie……I think a lot of people are probably focused on the $900 prize (I would be too)
over 3 years agonetixchange:
Please try to keep the thought behind the logo as global, and all encompassing. It should portray a depot, which can be defined as a junction, or a crossroads. Nice work so far guys, its still anyones game.
over 3 years agonetixchange:
Also note that we are very aggressive marketers….the winning logo will be seen by many people (fame and fortune, just one design away) ;-)

Nice work everyone. I dont think we will be asking for an extension on this comp. We are going to be mocking up some logo’s over the next couple of days. If anyone wants to submit a business card for their design, please use the contact us form to obtain our email address. Please give us 2 to 3 days to make a final decision.
Thanks to everyone who submitted.
over 3 years agoRyu:
Hi David, wouldnt it be fair if you sent a email to the creators of the logo’s that you are considering. It will save people wasting their time designing business cards if you are not even interested in the logo in the first place.. happy new year for tmow!
over 3 years agonetixchange:
Ryu,
over 3 years agoThat is fine….We will contact you.
Tourcat:
Is this competition extended for new designs, or just the ones you’ve said are your favorites?
over 3 years agonetixchange:
Alright, Didnt realize they had already extended this competition. We would like to keep this “second round” of the competition much more modern and contemporary. There are a couple of logo’s that we like, but nothing that stood out extensively. We want something much more contemporary, but not over the edge modern.
We like www.DrillSpot.com’s logo, as well as the contemporary feeling of the overall site layout.
We understand its a bit more difficult to work with "www.IndustrialDepot.com because its not short, and not a modern name by any means, but that is what we would like to attempt to convey with this second round.
We really prefer intelligent design, so please comment on what is giving you inspiration on your design, or maybe what individual parts represent, in case its not obvious.
Thanks, and good luck.

Great Gallery…
over 3 years agoMG:
dear netixchange, i had a look at the website of drill spot. their products are a little different from yours. industrial depot sells only industrial products. but they sell anything a home can need. i want to ask what makes you like the logo of drill spot? why their logo is good you think?
and i wanna ask one more something. why do u want an icon that is recognizable without name? do u wanna use the icon on the products? will the ind. depot make its own products? just for website it doesnt make sense. i mean drill spot logo doesnt have an icon apart from the company name. these kind of companies need the people recognize the name not the icon. so the nameless icon, i dont know doesnt make sense.
over 3 years agonetixchange:
MG,
First off let me just state, that for drillspot, we dont look to compete with them. We simply like their logo. Because they are in a “similar” industry has no bearing on the fact. I could have stated, I like the nike logo, it doesnt matter, its just a logo we like. Secondly, our reasoning behind a recognizable icon, has no bearing on you as a designer. You do not need to understand our reasoning or our business models. Our decisions do not need to make sense to you, and you questioning our decisions is quite rude.
MG, you really should use some logic and reasoning before you start aggressive communications with the client in a public forum.

Guys and Gals, we are currently traveling, but should be back the end of this week, and have a decision early next. Sorry for any delays.
As for the remarks by Java below, I will not bother responding to them, because I dont need to justify my actions to him/her. This is the way we think and thats the way it is, either accept it or move on. His/Her little opinion doesnt really matter to us. This is probably our 10th competition, and everyone who works with us on logosauce knows what we are about, I dont need to prove it to him/her, nor do I care to.
Thanks to those who want to see good art for arts sake………….
One other thing Java, we have about 30 contests planned for 2009, which we will use logosauce for, we really dont want your input on any of them. Thank you, and enjoy your afternoon.
over 3 years agonetixchange:
alright, we are back, will have a decision shortly.
