Sentinel Micro
Profile: S3NTYN 3L
Company: Sentinel Microsystems
Opens: 09 March 2009
Closes: 27 March 2009
Prize value: US$200.00
Details:
Sentinel Microsystems started as my little side-business to earn some extra cash.
It is quickly growing to the point where I’ll soon have to take on a partner to handle the extra clients being referred to me.
I offer a wide variety of IT services. Those services include desktop/laptop repair, data recovery, network support and on-site services.
I also provide consulting services to assist clients in creating and implementing solutions for home or business.
The logo I’m in need of will be primarily used on business cards, but should be versatile enough to look just as good on a letterhead, invoice or website.
The main message I’d like to convey is that of integrity, security and trust. Along with wanting some extra cash, I’d grown sick of the “big guys†taking advantage of their customers just because they don’t know much about the product they purchased. I am trying to reverse that sense of distrust most consumers have when in need of a new computer or services on an old one. (If only I could do the same with the auto sales industry, lol…)
The logo should be fun while professional at the same time. It should be simple, but not overly so. Corporate, but not “Big Businessâ€.
Vector is a must so I can resize as needed.
One that really popped out at me was the winning entry for the Hale Micro competition. That is the look I’m going for.
Please, no cliché images of computer monitors, keyboards or mice, etc…
RGB colors I like are:
- 28 28 28
- 44 44 44
- 60 60 60
I was thinking of using one of the grays for the background of the business card. I also had the idea of using a stylized profile view of a Corinthian helmet for the graphic. I felt it portrayed that sense of trust and security I’m going for. You are by no means limited to this however. Just try to keep the number of colors to a minimum. I’d say five at the absolute most…
Oh, and don’t worry, a winner will be chosen for this competition. I’ve no plans on abandoning it.
If you need any further details or clarification, please, don’t hesitate to email me via my profile.
Good luck.

sen⋅ti⋅nel    /ˈsɛntnl/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [sen-tn-l] Show IPA noun, verb, -neled, -nel⋅ing or (especially British) -nelled, -nel⋅ling. –noun
1. a person or thing that watches or stands as if watching.
2. a soldier stationed as a guard to challenge all comers and prevent a surprise attack: to stand sentinel.
3. Also called tag. Computers. a symbol, mark, or other labeling device indicating the beginning or end of a unit of information.
Hence the reason for helmets and guard symbols.
That’s why I wanted to stay away from the crest thing.
It reminds me too much of Trojan condoms…
Have I missed something? What’s with all the Trojans?
It should also be noted that I’d like the graphic to work / be recognizable without its text…
Please stay away from crests and gradients…
Some more work from this site that I feel has what I’m looking for or appealed to me in some way. (There are MANY talented people here and over thirty one thousand logos to sift through, these are but a few)…

As I said at the start, you are by no means bound to my helmet idea…
“Simple, but not overly so” seems to be taken as boring and uninspiring thus far.
“Wow” me.
