Some background: I’m from The Netherlands and in 2004 I started as a freelancer with ‘Deining Communicatie’. Originally I only focussed on water sport companies. However, today I also work for other branches.
’Deining Communciatie’ has two pillars. The first pillar is writing articles for (water sport) magazines (mainly human interest stories about sailing and motor boats), company magazines and such, the second pillar is web editing and designing and building websites for small companies.
‘Deining’ means ‘swell’ (and relates to sea and water sport) and has as a second meaning ‘creating excitement, commotion’. What I like about the name is this double meaning; that it also means: creating action, movement, excitement trough communication.
So far I used the words ‘Deining Communicatie’ as my company logo. I use it for business cards, website, letter head, envelopes and so on. But as I urgently need to update my website (lay-out and text), I think this is a good moment for a brand new and professional logo.
The logo I used: The words ‘Deining Communicatie’ in Verdana and color codes CMYK 73%/38%/11%/0% / RGB: 74/137/183 #4a89b7 en pantone solid coated 646C I like the colour, but it isn’t mandatory. I’m open for all suggestions.
What I need: The logo is needed for my website but also for letterhead, business cards, envelopes and so on.
Style words: Fresh, sporty, pure, water (sea), transparent, movement, unique, simple. These words don’t necessarily need to all be incorporated into the style of the logo, I just want to give an idea of the style which I like to express with ‘Deining Communicatie’. Not too girlish, I prefer a bit sturdy and yes professional, but I don’t mind a bit of fun. I mean it doesn’t all have to be too serious. I hope I make myself clear. If not, please let me know.

I can tell you that on two occasions the last year I’ve used refused designs for other purposes, that I initially made for Logosauce competitions. I erased them here and both of them are nowadays used as logotypes for other things. Nothing strange in that! If a concept works for someone else, why hesitate? I’m the designer anyway, ey..?
So I’m totally with Revotype here. :)
Identity is precisly that about for someone who wants it, if “cultured” did not want it someone else will i don’t see your pointless opinion bartolli, that’s the magic of graphic design if someone gets identified with an image then is totally valid to use it again for somebody else who might want it, if i had won with that one at cultured and offer it to someone else that might be a bad action, anyway thanks again for your ridiculous concern, CHEERS artist!!
@Revotype; There is no conspiracy, i dont know Doret, I dont know you – Nothing personal. just the design! Logo is an expression of identity, right? – It’s so easy for you to swap this identity.You confirmed my opinion – that needs more creativity! In my “damaged head” I have a photographic memory! When talking graphics – the artists keep silent!
Actually bartolli both of those are my designs there’s no confusion and do not ofends no one but you finding my design a treath to you, when Cultured contest ended my proposal was not chossen by contest holder and respectfully i erased all those logos from that contest so is totally valid i can use again the icon, if you try to find that logo here you may realize it does not exist anymore so now can be fully usefull for another contest actually there are many examples out there, probably what you are really trying is to put me in a bad postion with Doret, i really don’t understand your interest on saying all this injuries but is clear you have a problem with me cause i don’t even see a logo of yours in this contest, so there’s no confusion, all this “CONFUSION” happens @ your damaged head, and to finish is totally valid what i did to grab a well done icon that by the way reached very high votes even more than yours in that contest, so probably everybody can see where this heads. Also i can say is so great you follow my work so devotely but defenetly you have no fan intentions. This has name and is called boicot bortolli. I really should thank you cause all you do is giving me more promotion to my work, THANKS!!!

Hi Doret Can you please provide some feedback to some of the entries, e.g., the ones that you like. Feedback will result in more submissions. For example, see Finetuner’s competition. His feedback has encouraged a large number of entries.
Wow, how nice to see the different artworks you come up with. There are also some logo’s with (sailing)boats. They look great but I feel it is a little bit too specific. I do work for water sport companies/magazines, but also for other branches. I certainly like logo’s with a bit of ‘action’, movement in it and the freshness of white and blue. But maybe other colours work nicely as well. I’m open to suggestions.
