I need a logo designed for a new website I’m working on called Webisode… As the name implies, it’s going to be focused around web-centric professional videos – which unsurprisingly are called Webisodes. If you’re unfamiliar with what webisodes are, they’re typically short (~10 minute) episodic videos, kind of like mini-TV shows. A fair amount of the big shows (Heroes, Survivor, Battlestar Galactica) produce little webisodes either on different storylines from the main show, or as additional content for fans.
The logo is predominantly for the web, so whether or not it’s print-friendly is a secondary concern. Ideally it has a hip/cool feel to it instead of a more corporate vibe, but it shouldn’t be too crazy. ;) It can include the text “Webisode”, or “Webisode.com”, or just be graphical – I’m open to anything on that front.
I would prefer a logo that works well on a lighter-colored background, but I’m open to something darker. No preference in color, so go with whatever you prefer.

Comments:
pooooh….very tough….I’m proud to win this competition competing with the best designers here…
Thanks for all the great logo submissions – it was a difficult decision, but the response from the peoeple I pinged was strongly in favor of Shihab’s logo (although +java’s logo was a close second). I appreciate all the hard work and effort that was put into all the logos! :)
Hi Mark! how are you! hope this should be enough for you to make a decision! we all are ready to work more on it! :)
Thank you for the feedback. I am glad to make any modifications if required. Truly satisfied in participating in this comp. Lot of wonderful designs by our mates.
The competition is almost over, I thought I would give one more pass of feedback. Not much time left, but you never know… :)
Very nice, gives the whole ‘world’ concept as well as the screens, and I like the use of color – lots of variations without being overpowering. I prefer the darker background over the light one, but either looks good.
A nice variation on the original, not sure which I prefer, they both are very nice (original vs new). The addition of perspective is nice, gives it a more dynamic feel.
Two for you – this is very nice as well. I like the feedback loop idea and the colors. I prefer the darker version over the lighter version, it just tends to pop more to my eye.
I guess you were holding out a bit. ;) Another interesting variation, I like the antenna’s incorporated with the W, gives it a bit more of a playful feel. I don’t like the black/white treatment as much (the W doesn’t work as a W anymore, too stylized), but the reverse icon in the lower left looks very good.
Interesting – the black treatment is my preference, but the white might work better with a black stroke around it. The little graphic in the center (while it doesn’t mean anything to me) looks interesting.
My favorite of these variations, I like the smoother lines and I think this design looks better (to me) with three colors instead of the gradient – gives it more definition. This version also has much more character feel to it, which is interesting…

Once everything is completed, it will take a couple of days for me to select the winner (I give my friends of list of them to check out and see which ones they like), then I’ll post up on here. Thanks again for all the hard work and great logos! :)
We’re getting close to the final stretch, lots of great logos so far! It’s worth pointing out that the vast majority of webisodes are done by TV companies, and not individuals, so having a YouTube ‘user generated’ feel probably isn’t the right idea. With that said, here are my thoughts on the latest batch:
I like the use of color – while it has quite a bit, because of the breaking up with the white lines it doesn’t seem too intense. I like the idea of the treatment in the lower right, but the colors don’t work as well in that context. To some extent, this reminds me a bit of how some networks used to make up their logos with images from different TV shows, which I always thought looked cool.
Not really a big fan of the whole ‘web’ connection – it seems really dated to me (everything in the late 90’s seemed to use webs). That being said, this isn’t bad, and it uses the web about as effectively as I think could be done.
Clean and simple – I like the subtle color, and the kind of screen/w connection.
Graphically I like this, but it doesn’t say ‘webisode’ to me, the first thing that comes to mind is recycling or some sort of feedback loop.
Interesting… It has some of the TV, the W, and kind of reminds me of a robot. :) For whatever reason, the color in the middle doesn’t work as well for me, but it may just be because I don’t like it against the white, maybe with a small stroke it would appear better. Very creative interpretation… :)
This one is kind of cool as well, but as with mia*’s, while I like it, it doesn’t really say ‘webisode’ to me.
Thanks for the feedback, is good to know what do you feel about this designs.!!!
Thanks for the feedback Mark!!!
Thanks for feedback !!
Great new batch of submissions – here are my thoughts on some of the new ones, in no particular order:
Nice and clean – good use of color and space. I particularly like the incorporation of the W into the multiple screens, some others submission did that also, but the use of color and the non-uniform spacing helped this one stand out more to me.
Ah, I remember you submitted a similar version for one of my previous compo’s. :) This actually works well for either of them, and it was one of my favorites. One of the disconnects that this does have is in getting more of the internet vibe – not sure what would work though. The colors on this version don’t jump out at me as much as the previous either.
Very simple but at the same time eye catching. I like the non-uniform rotation on the inter box to give it more of a dynamic feel, etc. I could also see this style applying well to a website design.
I actually like the black/white treatment better than the color, it has more of a dramatic feel to it. To me it anchors more with the W than it does with anything TV show/internet related.
I’m not sure which one I prefer – this one is more compact, which I like since it won’t dominate the website once it’s incorporated. The biggest (obvious) difference is the color use, I like that it uses more color, but it might be too busy to integrate cleanly with a larger design.
One other general note – the font matters much less to me than the actual logo itself, so none of my comments are related to the font face (unless I explicitly mention it).
Hopefully this helps everyone! :)
AnalogX: Nice that you like my effort! That animation thing I mentioned was just an additional idea I had, since you’ll be working with video content. Maybe you’ll add quick intro/outro idents to every “webisode” with your logo in the future, or something. :)
Hey everyone – this is the first of my feedbacks, I’ll try to do this at least once a week so everyone gets a good idea of what I think of anything new. I post all my comments on the main thread so everyone can see what I like and why, so hopefully that helps people out. Definitely loads of very cool ideas, as always at logosauce! :) One thing I would like to point out is not to use the whole film/movie reel in the logo’s – for me that really evokes movies, and virtually all webisodes are TV related, so it’s a bit of a mixed message. Ok, here we go:
Fontana While it doesn’t exactly scream ‘Webisode’ to me, it definitely is very cool looking. I like that it gives the impression of a screen (three in this case), and the use of color is very nice. The reflection is a bit more opaque and in your face that I would generally prefer. The thick white borders helps it stand out well against the background as well.
Shihab Nice play on the name, incorporating the whole TV concept, and I like the playful feel that the little eyes add to the logo as a whole.
Blerq While I have no intention of animating anything, I like the look of this one – it expresses the idea that there are multiple things, and the W incorporated into the screen helps anchor it a bit with the name.
sCar Definitely a cool logo and visually I like it, but I think it’s a bit too trendy – I could see this coming together to make a cool looking themed site, but I could also see getting tired of it quickly.
Revotype I’m a bit torn about which one of these variations I like better – they’re both visually interesting, but in the end I think I like the simpler version. Nice connection of the play and the W. I don’t like the color as much on this, the gradient doesn’t work as well for me at least without a stroke around it or something to give it a stronger feel.
santesa2 I like the concepts used on this one – expresses the whole multiple videos plus the ‘worldwide’ vibe.
epsolong Simple but nice, I like the more solid colors in this as opposed to the pastel feel of some of the others. The logo feels a bit disconnected from the type (although I do like the font choice).
Sleepy R I definitely like this treatment over the first one – it has a much stronger and unique feel, although the logo kind of reminds me of a monkey or a light bulb for some reason. ;)
Yes, of course a month is fine! I’m just so eager! :)
Thanks Analogx – a month is absolutely fine.
I’ve generally tried to have my competitions close to a month – I generally try to post feedback about the top five or so submissions that stand out to me; what I like about them, what doesn’t work as well, etc. That way everyone gets a better sense of what I’m after, and I’m able to give (hopefully) more details comments.
I also am going to E3 the beginning of June, so I wanted to make sure I had some extra time in case I wasn’t able to give as much feedback that week as I’d like. ;)
Yeah but somebody has to start
Aaagh! A whole month! I think you should dare to cut it down to two weeks. :)
