The Brief
I am a wedding and lifestyle portrait photographer.
I am looking for a Logo / branding that has impact. I want to build my identity around this logo and incorporate it into my Website, Blog and marketing materiels ie: business cards, letterhead, stickers etc.
I designed my current logo- website: www.patipakulis.com blog: www.patipakulis.blogspot.com But really want it to have more of a polished and professional look. Desire more impact. Also, I am changing my business name from Photography by Pati to Pati Pakulis Photography
Also my tag line will be: an artistic celebration of life! This can be incorporated into the logo… but would still like to see logo stand on it’s own.
My Target Audience/Clients : Families, Children, High School Seniors and Brides. I am primarily a portrait photographer.. but have been getting more wedding business in the past few months.
What I strive for in my photography: Authenticity, emotion captured, inspiration, excellent use of lighting, heart , soul, the beauty of life! Timelessness.I love each photo to define some type of emotion:Joy, wonder, curiosity, awe, peace ect…
Words that describe what I believe I am looking for in a logo:
Elegant with a hint of casual
Classic
Clean
Impact
Feminine
Simplistic
A bit of chic – perhaps
Contrast
Colors: Definatley black… silver, baby blue, white & black combo. I’d like to see this… open to other combos with black too
Other details:
I love the use of script fonts mixed with text fonts. I love the contrast between the two. One of my favorite branding is the store Philosophy – philosophy.com
I love feminine… classy with a hint of casual, I like flourishes… but very understated. I love the idea of the using the font as a decorative element.
Unfortunatley, I have had a very tough time with the letter P—
I don’t see very many font script P’s that I like. SO my current logo leaned toward text font… and the tagline was script. I did like that contrast….But I am open…..
Would love to just be wowed! Feel like I’m picky—or just can’t quite seem to FIND what I want in a logo.
I’m not into cutesy and crafty at all for a logo. Please NO references to camera, aperture or filmstrips.
Lastly, I would love to see a few logo concepts that have a very faint/subtle rainbow. Very subdued. Just interested in that… but not sure I want that for sure
What I need: Please deliver the final logo in a vector, full scalable complete file. in eps, ai , png & jpg formats with RGB, CMYK and Greyscale versions of Also a PSD…. The design should be suitable for color or black & white print. The logo will be used on EVERYTHING…website, blog header, watermark, promotional materials, letterhead, business cards, photo-prints, or on a big canvas print etc.

I’ve added some of my logo inspiration on my blog— things that I like: www.patipakulis.blogspot.com
almost 3 years agopati:
Just something to think about – still hoping to see my name in some sort of script font… then photography in a more manuscript font… or vice versa!
almost 3 years agopati:
would love to see someone use the font AL Sandra for my name…Pati Pakulis…
almost 3 years agopati:
Also… just to help in the process. Regarding each element and their level of impact Name first…most prominant piece.. then the word photography… then tag or symbol/design element. So if you add any type of symbol… I’d like to compliment…
Also – there is one design on my blog as inspiration that I love— and would be interested in seeing something like it: See www.patipakulis.blogspot.com and look at the logo Lisette Arebencia …
almost 3 years agopati:
would love to see another design with a flourish
almost 3 years agopati:
Regarding the use of any type of flourish—- I prefer they be subtle…..

Another thing I notice——- most work done on a black background resonates with me more.

Thank everone for all these entries. One thing I want to mention. There are several logos I like that follow a general pattern – and I am excited about that. However, this was not a directly intentional choice on my part- but rather an evolution of this process. But it does not mean that I am not open to other logos that break that pattern. I still hope to see fresh arragngements of my name , tag, etc. My only true requirement was that the logo be done on a black backgorund. That is one of my requirements.
Otherwise, I still hope to see designs that surprise me or are a fresh pattern – before this competiton is concluded! I know I have a classic bent…. but I’d like to see arrangements that are not just following this patter;
Design up top
Name
Photography
Line
Tag
I hope that makes sense… Thank you all!

Sorry for the typos in my last comments. I was in a hurry and on my iphone.

Thank you all for your submissions… this has been a wonderful learning process. With just a few days remaining in the competition, I wanted to offer some final feedback
There are two logos that I am leaning toward the most:
http://logosauce.comlogos55007
http://logosauce.comlogos54555
http://logosauce.comlogos54662
http://logosauce.com/logos/55046
What I like is that they feel clean, balanced and they have that classic bent that I seem drawn toward. There is also a timelessness that I sense. They are not faddish or trendy.. and they help define what I strive for in my photography; and elegance, yet realness, timelessness and expertise in quality.
I am seeing that simple is better
I am leaning toward less, not more
I love having one design/symbol that is simple, yet feminine, that can always be associated with me with or without my name being present.
As much as I have hoped for a script font for my first name… and I have wanted this all along, I see that my name actually stands more firm in a manuscript font – yet it can still remain feminine. I also see that there is a greater impact I feel when it is not a script font.
There is one logo that I am still considering, that has a script font… but the tendency is that I am leaning toward manuscript.
I wanted to see what a rainbow concept would feel like – and I now know that a rainbow is not what would work for me in my professional endeavor toward branding – it is to remain personal for me.
Overall, I’ve also learned that I am not a totally out of the box individual – which is not as fun I’m sure for a designer, but I think I’ve really narrowed it down to this:
I want something clean, simple & solid with a bit of a classic elegant flare for impact.
This competition has plenty of room for final submissions over the next few days and I will make sure to give feedback as often as I can.
Would love to continue to see other concepts… as they line up with this final feedback!
almost 3 years agopati:
For the record… most of the logo submissions are the same concept at this point. Not sure if you all are tired of this competition – but I am still open to fresh and design concepts that fall into this catagory –
almost 3 years agoclean, simple & solid with a bit of a classic elegant flare for impact.
pati:
Sometimes I wonder what type of design I could get if I just went completely opposite of what I think I like
For Ex: Fun, whimsical, on a white background – any takers? Maybe I’d be pleasantly surprised.
almost 3 years agopati:
enjoying seeing my name in lower case a bit!
almost 3 years agopati:
As I see some lighter and more fun designs… I’m drawn more to the meaning of my tagline…
An artistic celebration of life!
Maybe my logo needs to reflect that artistic celebration! Happy, uplifting, fun…… rethinking things mucho! Loving the new concepts!
almost 3 years agopati:
curious to see just my name as the logo… how creative can you all be with that? NO symbol or design. takers? Can my name stand alone? Meaning Pati Pakulis Photography – that’s it!
almost 3 years agopati:
I’ve tried to give as much feedback as possible – really hoping to see some revisions today. Continued new submissions are more than welcome. It’s not too late – no decisions are final at this point. Thank you ALL!
almost 3 years agopati:
It looks like there’s about 9 hours left…. even though the expiration date on the competition says Aug 7th. Thank you all for your submissions… my job is going to be very difficult! It’s not too late to submit—- but I will not be available for immediate comments as I am in a seminar throughout the day.
Thank you all again – and best of luck!
