About Us
Braintapper Knowledge Solutions, Inc. is my company. I’m an independent contractor, so it’s really a company of one. I specialize in knowledge and information management. In layperson’s terms, I use technology help companies capture internal knowledge (“tapping the brains” of their employees using tools like wikis) as well as converting knowledge into actionable information (dashboards, charts, reports).
What I’m Looking For
While “Knowledge Solutions” is part of my company name, those words don’t have to appear in the logo itself.
I am looking for a wordmark with some integration with an icon of some sort (like Evernote’s, for example). In terms of the iconography, I’m willing to go with the obvious imagery – i.e., a brain, a tap, but I’m also willing to think outside of the box with other possibilities that are suggestive with respect to the capture and dissemination of knowledge.
Requirements
- Must scale nicely to a small size (i.e. 0.5cm high)
- Must be provided in multiple file formats (SVG, EPS)
- If any iconography is provided in addition to a wordmark, both the icon and the wordmark should be able to stand alone
- Sans-Serif (preferred) or Serif Fonts Only – No Script or Writing Fonts. Banned fonts: Arial, Stencil, Avant Garde, Comic Sans
- Must have a version that looks good in black and white
Logos I like
- Feedburner
- 37 signals
- evernote.com
- fedex
- Mint (haveamint.com, not the financial site)
- I liked some of the non-winning entries from the Brain Stream competition, but to keep things fair, I won’t say which ones.
Tone
- Simple
- Clean
- Modern
- Clever
Stylistic Considerations
- Our target market are businesses, not individuals
- Less is more
- Fancy gradients, patterns are less desirable since they don’t translate well to multiple mediums

Comments:
thanks Steven
Steven, It was a pleasure working on your logo. Thank you very much.
Thanks everyone for your entries.
Congratulations to imageDPI for producing an excellent logo that elegantly and effectively communicates what Braintapper is all about. Great work!
Let me also take a couple of seconds to make some honorable mentions: Kokonut, Exsaf and Shine produced some very strong designs that kept the decision-making process interesting right until the end.
Just to steer future entries in the right direction as we enter the last week of the competition… I’ve noticed that the concepts have becoming more refined as more entrants jump into the fray.
Here are ten entries from the competition to date (in no particular order) that might provide some insights into what I’m looking for:
http://logosauce.com/logos/63172 http://logosauce.com/logos/63548 http://logosauce.com/logos/63414 http://logosauce.com/logos/63303 http://logosauce.com/logos/63172 http://logosauce.com/logos/63110 http://logosauce.com/logos/62986 http://logosauce.com/logos/62927 http://logosauce.com/logos/62918 http://logosauce.com/logos/63358
Clearly my tastes are all over the map, and it’s not going to be an easy choice. Some of these logos strike a chord with my brain (what suits the business the best), and others to my heart (what appeals to me). To win, both chords will have to be struck.
Good luck to all!
I have to say that I’ve been very impressed with all the entries I’ve received to date. I really appreciate all the effort that has gone into all of these entries. It is NOT going to be easy to pick a winner. I thought it would be, but there are more standouts than I had anticipated, and that says a lot of great things about all of the entries as a whole.
I’m appalled you’ve put Avant Garde in the same bracket as Comic Sans! But then i need to get out more..
There have been some great entries, please keep the ideas coming!
Coming out of the entries to date, here’s some additional feedback that might help:
Braintapper turns knowledge into actionable information. Basically we collect words and numbers and turn them into bar charts, dashboards and reports, that help managers see how their business is doing and make faster decisions.
With respect to imagery, I would say that you don’t necessarily need to get caught up in images of brains and taps. Heads, thought balloons, lightbulbs, or animals signifying knowledge – owls, elephants are fine. Even the idea of a finger tapping on the head is good. I’m open to outside-of-the-box ideas.
Thanks to everyone participating!
