I could not find any logo’s when I put the word wheelchair in. Please find following where I am coming from, someone suggested I use your site to obtain a logo for my new wheelchair initiative. I would like something that will represent my initiative, possibly something character like / fun / modern / bright and that will stand out as I plan my initiative to go global and would like a logo that will carry this all round the world, so needs to have an international flavour as well. I would like it to be taggable as well. I am not very artistic and new to twitter etc, but see it will become something recognised and even possibly displayed on transport vehicles. I will know when I see what will work. Please let me know if I can add anything else? I have not formed an organisation yet, but thinking it will be non for profit, happy to pay in the meantime. My Global Idea! Wheelchairs – A part of our community!

My inspiration / motivation:

This initiative was inspired when I saw a small child in a dated, awkward, uncomfortable wheelchair, and I thought why? Why can’t we have something fun, functional and modern? We have lightweight bikes, prams and even segways for those that can walk, for those that cannot, why shouldn’t we transform their world and make a difference? I have since thought of a new design, yet to be evaluated.

I am a recent inventor of a new car product that resolved an issue I had. As a result of this, I find I am constantly looking at different ways of finding solutions for social issues. After many months of interviewing people in wheelchairs and government department representatives, I am determined to make a change in this arena and so I have started the following.

My vision:

To enable wheelchairs to be accessible and affordable for all in need.

My mission:

To ensure that everyone who needs a wheelchair has one, and are fun, functional and modern and become affordable for all globally.

Action plan 2010:

1. Launch end of January 2010 – www.joinhelen.com

2. Promote the concept of improving the quality of life for those who need wheelchairs via my new website:

* start an international online discussion (blog) to build awareness of the needs and challenges for people in wheelchairs and those who need a wheelchair but cannot afford one * conduct an international survey gathering the priority requirements for people in wheelchairs and identify those for whom the cost of a wheelchair is prohibitive

• global swap / trade or donate a wheelchair e-program

• start to share:

- What’s new? Eg. yachts for the disabled / off road wheelchairs - What’s available? Eg. wheelchairs that allow you to stand up - Who’s doing amazing things? Eg. like kids in wheelchairs sharing skateboard ramps in the USA

3. Identify manufacturers who can contribute to providing wheelchairs at a more affordable price – (These can be bought in bulk once collective demand is known)

4. Identify philanthropic groups or people who want to be part of this initiative

Make a difference globally one person at a time!
