Kelly Easter Photography.com
- Colors:
Must be appealing in Color and Black and White. I would like the option of being able to change the colors to suit the project. When I have produced Documents for the business in the past I have used Black, Grey White and (8bcb39 Type of Green) or (A Garnet Color). My own work is high contrast with, bold, vivid color.
- Logo Style:
Strong in Impact but Clean, High-End, Legible in a small size and Must Have a Design Element (even if just Initials). The Design Element must be attractive enough to be used alone as a watermark, as a Patterned Design on a Website Background, for Letterhead, Business Cards, CD/DVDs and recognizable if printed on Bags or used in Marketing Displays. Logo must be appealing in Color and Black and White. Please No Overdone or Quirky Fonts. I’d like my logo to say High-End, of Distinguishable Quality. I am ok with a mix of fonts as long as it doesn’t distract from the Impact. I am ok with the Kelly being a different color than Easter. (I think this often adds impact.) (I would like to take the Design Element and be able to do a pattern NOT BUSY so the solid color and 50%-65% Opacity Contrast could be used for the backs of Video Jewel Cases or the background of a blog…) (Examples where the design element has/can be used as a lovely background or stand alone: http://www.logosauce.com/logos/58170 , http://www.logosauce.com/logos/61601 , http://www.logosauce.com/logos/65175 , http://www.logosauce.com/logos/68920 , http://www.logosauce.com/logos/68549 )
- Art Work
Should be deep, and rich in color (I like when a gradient draws you in) and something that is just a bit too unique that it causes people to look twice to see what that pleasing design is, does it have a meaning…
- My Photographic Style:
Meticulous, High Contrast, Extra Sharp, Bold Color, Dramatic, I am looking to go to the next level focusing on High End Wedding. Some of my Portraits will be used in jacket covers for Recording Artists.
- Appealing to females 20-35
- Optional Elements
I favor the “fufu” element to be the design element and the name to be strong and eye catching. I have tried incorporating a thin Cross (I am a Christian) or trying to combine a Cross with a Stylish Compass focusing on the “East” in Easter. I gave up… maybe you will have better luck if you would like to try to incorporate these Optional Elements.
…I wanted to offer an extra glimpse into my style…
- If I am a Brat… I listen to Supermassive Black Hole by Muse (Just for the escape the music offers)
- The Music on my Website… Bella’s Lullaby by Carter Burwell (I love the Tension and Creative Drama. Logo should probably have a corresponding feel.)
- Songs most likely to be on my Engagement Photo Videos for Customers… Blush(Only You) by Plumb and L-L-Love by Blondfire (I like the trendy edge and again the dramatic element.)
- Quiet Kelly… I’d listen to something like True Love by The Echoing Green
Thanks Again!
I know of at least a dozen new photographers that are struggling with their “logo”. I will be giving big props to the designer and ultimately send lots of referrals to that individual. In the future I will be needing 2 additional logos, so more business to come.
Feel free to ask Qs Photos2Shoot at yahoo.com

Comments:
Shine, could not agree more, I’m fed up with most of these sites, where you spend hours on designs only for the contest holder to not really be that bothered, either no or very poor feedback. This competition was amazing and Kelly is probably the most passionate contest holder I’ve seen.
Great Feedback, Great Passion, Great Creativity.
This contest should set the standard going forward!
Spectacular kelly! we want you in staff of, logosauce:)) Thanks a lot
Greetings Designers,
I can’t believe the month has flown by already! I feel so blessed that I was able to have this experience with all of you!
There is so much great talent here at Logosauce. I have already told so many about this place and all of you. I can’t wait to award the winner, and write about this experience for other photographers who will need your help in the future!
Please be patient with me. There are several nice logos, but there are 5 Designers that have really left me with a very challenging task ahead.
I don’t want to forget anyone, but I wanted to say thank you to a few who did something that really stood out!
Best…
Repeating Background- Esther (eflair) 73716 last design element was stylish and made for an intriguing repeating background, one of the things I asked to see and few showed!
Text Arrangement- Mohammad (julaine) 73165
Progression (from first logo to final)- Santiago (santesa2) who went from 72152 to 73632 and 73759 Thank you for channeling your inner Diva!!
Original Design Element- Joshua (lep) 72270 Your Alpha design work is simply exceptional!
Combination of Concepts- George (geobish42) 72899 You are truly a Logo God, few can combine concepts with the same skill as you show in your portfolio!
Popular Simplicity… there were two that stood out. Biljana (bibi) 73178 and Mike (bozzer) 73614 both designs were given a considerable amount of attention for their clean, elegant designs.
Consistent Quality of Concepts- David (David.Clabon) David, your various concepts were well thought out and as a group the most consistent in regards to quality! (When you find the Designers in the market that limit the number of concepts they will present to you; some as low as 3 concepts, I would have no worries with coming to you for a logo. I know I would leave with something exceptional every time!)
Optional Elements- Francesca (shine) 72698 Thank you for your cross design!
Never Say Die!- Xavier (xaos) You were by far the easiest to work with. If I made a suggestion often the same day I would see the updated design! I have to give you props… Our tastes are SO different but you kept working and working till we had a concept that had the best of both of our styles combined! There were times I just thought he is never gonna “get meâ€â€¦ but darned if you didn’t keep working till you did! Thank you, you have the best attitude!
Communication- Daniel (dduvic) You were by far the best at communicating with me about your design concepts! I never had to guess what you were attempting to convey, what a relief! 72910 P.s. “You Dat!â€
Presentation- There were several of you that showed me how the logo would work on cards, backgrounds, etc. I THANK YOU!!! But there was one that made the logo look as if it were floating off the page. Dwain (pinkie) 72873 this was a dynamic look for a very simple concept! Photography is the art of capturing light and your presentation was so appealing.
Creative use of Initials & Whimsicality- Adam (adam palmquist) 73623 PS. Everyone loved 72195
Dark Horse!- Aensa (vegasus) I reached out to Anesa because Anesa had designed for other photography contests. Didn’t know what to expect and had actually glossed over the first design 72862 because it was posted after a couple of days of designs that were not even close to what I was looking for, color schemes that I would never consider and all I kept thinking was Designers are submitting designs and not even reading my Contest Description, how foolish is that. Well Aensa, I was the fool! I never really gave your designs the credit they were due because I assumed you hadn’t read my description submitting Blue & Gold logos that looked like they were for architectural firms not a female wedding photographer. But I committed to carefully considering every single logo that was submitted and what you ended up offering me was by far the Classiest Logo of the Contest! If you don’t win, know you were the closest to it!
Aensa’s logo was initially hard for me to see (wrong color) and then was more difficult for me to visualize because I wanted a logo that had a repeating pattern and I had no idea (Aensa didn’t submit one) what this would look like in my everyday use. When Aensa posted 73665 I was amazed.
Again, Thank you to everyone who took time out of your day to design a logo for me. I told you about my contest Dark Horse Aensa because I wanted you all to know I have enjoyed every singled design and considered each carefully even when some seemed so far off, I didn’t think the Designer read the Contest Description!
What fun this was!!
God Bless,
Kelly
Please continue to submit new designs or modifications to designs…
We put the logos out to about 250 people to ask for their comments on the best fit for the business. With one full day out, I must admit I am surprised! The five logos that are getting the most attention in no specific order are…
http://www.logosauce.com/logos/72862
http://www.logosauce.com/logos/72373
http://www.logosauce.com/logos/72336
http://www.logosauce.com/logos/72383
http://www.logosauce.com/logos/73178
A side note- The text layout gets alot of talk but the bubbles (design element) is not liked. http://www.logosauce.com/logos/73165
Honorable mention goes to http://www.logosauce.com/logos/72270 but it seems to get referred to as a Christmas option. This is odd as I saw this as the front runner. It is still a favorite.
Honorable mention goes to http://www.logosauce.com/logos/72195 So clever but I’m unable to use a bunny… too cliché
Honorable mention goes to http://www.logosauce.com/logos/73302 but since we shoot all digital now this tends to get the nod from the folks who used to shoot film.
***Again just the feel from the first day, I will update if a new logo breaks the top 5.
Dear Kelly, I must pay you a big complement. You really look after us designers with caring and inspiring comments. THANK YOU SO MUCH – I think I can say this for all of us!
jejeje …Kelly is very good discernment. these kinds of anonymous people are designers. they do not dare to come forward and serve only to criticize . (Raoul) you have police issues
Raoul… do you have something more constructive to add to the Contest? Like maybe a Logo?
Ms. Kelly seem right that she views this link! http://www.fordesigner.com/pic/zip/20091199353487477801.jpg there is no control here …
Thank you all for this ongoing discussion. I just now peeked in on this contest. I cant wait until I get a chance to read through all of this. Dawn ;-)
Here here Kelly! You are with out a doubt the best CH I’ve ever been involved in. Great contest here Logosauce. This is going to bring out the best in us all.
**FYI: Please do NOT submit logos with the following-
The brand will not be reflected with these element.
Thanks Kelly
-No Flowers
-No Animals
-No Logos Missing a Design Element (Font Only)
-Please No Crosses as the main element. We have realized it just serves to dilute the impact we need to show in the Photography Brand.
Hi Kam. I could tell you right now, which are my top 5 designs. This would accomplish 1 Positive thing and at least 3 Negative….
Positive
1) A nice pat on the back for the 5 that have done exceptional work, but I have already shared my excitement with those who have created Fabulous Logos in their comment section.
Negative
1) There are designers who really focused in on what it was I was looking for. These Designers “Get Itâ€. It is not fair to them to then have other designers copy/mimic their creativity and ultimately put those in jeopardy of not wining based on their own originality. This also doesn’t help the Designers that are closer to #2. They didn’t figure it out… they will come real close to copying intellectual work.
2) There are designers that are on the verge of coming up with Original works on their own, I am committed to offering each logo the same honest feedback. I do not want to hurt this creative process. You know they are here @logosauce, the ones that have the same/similar logo or repeat the same art work for most contests hoping the art will “fit somewhere†rather than making art that uniquely fits the business.
3) I believe there is a broad scope available based off of the information I offered. Compared to Contests I have reviewed there is significantly more information to guide a designer on this Contest than any other in the past month. I have loved the uniqueness of every design EVEN if it wasn’t close to what I asked for. Only 6 days into 30 don’t yet want to stifle the creativity that still has time to appear.
4) There are those who simply have not read simple things, like my ideal color scheme, who my market is, the look I need to convey and that I need a design that ideally would have a lovely pattern to be used as backdrops on blogs or watermarks in photos that would exemplify and distinguish this photographer from all others. Some recreate the exact same logos without even reading the feedback given the first time I reviewed the design…
The Designers that read, think and envision “Get It†and I’d like to protect their work as much as encourage others to come to the same level. It will help my Brand and will offer them future portfolio designs that will come closer to appealing to others in my line of work.
Once this is done, I plan to post my review of the process on a forum of New Photographers who all struggle with creating an identity/logo. If all the designers at this point begin to merge their creativeness, these new photographers may not find a designer that suits them.
Kam- I do appreciate the sincerity in which you asked the Q. I don’t doubt that it was with the hopes of coming as close to my ideal design as possible. Thank you! But the one thing I prize most about this site is that these designers are from all around the world, and what I described may be very different from country to country. I want to have the benefit of completely unique talents/ideas. Not merge them into one. (Besides it would be nice if LogoSauce had the option to rank the designs so as they come in we could easily use a drop down menu to update that “Designs Statusâ€â€¦ if you think that would help the designers. They could check back and see if their designs made the top or if they got knocked off by someone else.)
Thanks for the Advice and the Warm Welcome! Kelly
Dear Kelly, thank you very much for coming to Logosauce. This is a beautiful world of creativity. Here you can find world class designers with great understanding who are also cordial and thick friends. No doubt at the end of this comp. you will have a wonderful design in your hand. In the meanwhile May I request you to do some of the following which will steer the comp in the right direction. Kindly take some time and try to forget all the logos. Then have a fresh look at all the logos. Narrow down the designs (i.e. around 5 entries), which are coming close to your heart and your expectation. If required discuss with your mates or trustworthy people in shortlisting the designs. Then tell us which are them. Then all the designers will travel in those concepts and give you options. I hope this will help you in settling in the correct concept which you are looking for. Kelly please take my words in the right spirit. they are only my personal views and suggestions. Again I assure you, you will not be disappointed at Logosauce. I have simply fallen in love with your website. The music and the photographs are simply beautiful. Your works are great like you. thanks. Kam
I must say I am jealous of the set-up you have here. As a photographer once the initial photo is taken we rarely get the kind of feedback this opportunity allows you.
I love that I truly get to be involved in the process as much or as little as I want. I appreciate every single design regardless of how over or underwhelming it may be. Each offering gives me the opportunity to realize more finely what my brand needs.
I absolutely respect the courage it takes to put yourself and your work out there in front of others.
In fact photog competitions are just a few a year. These competitions cost us shipping and print costs and you NEVER get feedback on why your photo didn’t make the cut so you really have little to no margin to learn from the experience. Rarely can you profit financially, even if you win.
Here, Designers get to actively participate and have weekly if not daily opportunities to hone your skills, get feedback, or simply showoff. How great is that?
I can’t thank you all enough for welcoming me into the process! I have told so many others and I have only had 3 days with you.
Thanks Again! Kelly
guys, i do agree completely… kelly is like a breath of fresh air, wish the other CH’s were as passionate as the designers. The feedback is more or less like a pep-up talk and it prompts you to push the creative envelopes further…. look forward to this contest.
I agree Ray. She does a great job at communicating her wants and giving us all the feedback that we need in order to create a dynamic logo for her. One of the best comps. I’ve ever been a part of. Thanks Kelly!
Dear Kelly, just wanted to let you know that it is Awesome to see a contest holder PUSH all of us designers to create the best possible brand for your business! The feedback time that you have spent already (in 2 days) is commendable…Bravo to you! Best, Ray
