Notes:

Decided not to go down the humorous route as this can often look very unprofessional on a site. The site itself is built in a way where content will come first so more of a simple mark will be needed rather than a full blown illustration.

Think youtube and you’ll get where I am coming from.

A great visual impact

not humorous whatsoever. doesn’t at all fit what the client is asking.

Jolly typeface, err no I don’t use jolly typefaces unless it’s aimed at the under 12’s.

I don’t always go for what ‘a client is asking for’ as I am the designer and they often prefer to listen to how I would do an idea. I have stated above that most popular video hosting sites etc. Use a simple mark rather than anything too over the top. Using eyes in the OO’s is way too over done and very childish.

Under 12’s..LOL! Boost! ;o).. take it 13 is too old for a ‘jolly’ typeface!!

? I don’t understand your comments guys, this logo is very efficient, in a minimalist style, very cool for a website/forum.

Well executed imo. If I were to change anything I would decrease the size of “lol” because it overpowers the boost. Or maybe choose a less chunky font.

I agree with Mint it’s slightly overpowering

I think it’s nice and simple. I agree with Toon. The client doesn’t always know what they really want and it’s up to us to show them something different. We’re here to educate and help the client, we’re not robots.

i have seen your other works with logos. they are good, and you have the right touch for symbols. But this one is not just it. A hint for you – I like for ex. the example lolboost #6 by jaysgirl. Try something like that but with a symbol also.

To inform everyone what the team in IHJ (lolboost) think: The logo by Davidoff (lol6) leads now the competition. Nr. 2 is this logo by Jaysgirl (lolboost #6). The reason that davidoffs logo leads and not Jaysgirl, is that the symbol and typeface matches great together. But the typeface in Jaysgirls logo we like little bit more. It makes the lol little bit more clear and its very professional. So if Jaysgirl finds a matching “great” symbol, she will lead the competion. We hope that this information also helps other designers to find something easier according to our need.
