This includes electrical plan symbols. The sun looking symbol at the top is the symbol for ‘indicator.’ I still utilized the basic shape of a bridge.

With out explanation I thought, “Oh dear what is that sun?” but with your explanation of the symbols I thought, “Wow that is really cool ! I would have never thought of that.” Totally creative!

as the comment above points out, people viewing a logo are supposed to “get” it. If it HAS to have an explanation in order to do so, then it’s not doing its job properly. The type is too elaborate and the two words seem to run together. sorry cwilk, i usually like your designs, but this one falls way short.

I have to disagree that people have to ‘get it.’ There are many logos out there that have meaning that we all ’don’t get.’ The cool thing about a logo is when we actually do ‘get it’ ….especially ones that aren’t blatant to us. Check out the FedEx logo…..there’s an arrow in it that most people don’t even see. IBM’s logo comes from the glow of phosphor CRTs when you typed IBM on them…does anyone get that? Also the Nike Swoosh is a wing of the greek goddess NIKE. That’s what is so great about creativity….no one has to get it.

those things aren’t what i’m referring too. everything you just mentioned are more “hidden gems” and are not crucial factors for what I consider “getting” (or understanding at first impression) the logo. The mark you created is only going to be understood by those in the electrical / engineering professions, not the audience they are trying to market too. When are they going to put a forum on this site, so we don’t have to bog down comments with banter like mine? ;)

I understand what you’re saying, but there are many logos out there with icons on them that have absolutely no meaning to the people that see them. Sometimes the client knowing what something means is good enough. And I think the ‘indicator’ could be considered one of those hidden gems because it does relate to what they do.

very good points. your support is strong ;) I always love challenging someone’s design to hear to see how passionately they will argue/support their design.
