Rodgers Design

By: richquick

Brand: Rodgers Design
Owner:
Published: 15 September 2007

Status: Competition Entry

Notes:

The logos uses the negative space in the capital D to create a capital R.

There are 2 versions here, a flat version and a 3 D version.

The icon is simple and will work at low resolution for web use – for example in a Favicon.

On web use, the words “rodgers design” can be used to the right of the icon, for clarity and legibility.

Full vector artwork is available.

Nice idea, but unfortunately it’s been allready used on this comp: http://www.logosauce.com/logos/3843

That’s not really the same idea .. other than we both decided to play around with the shapes.

He’s put an R inside the D and extended the diagonal stroke, I’ve cut two sections out of the stroke of the D, in order to turn the negative space inside the D into an R.

That’s not actually the same idea.

It’s certainly similar, I’d agree – but no more similar than

This uses the same basic premise .. as do hundreds of other logos.

BTW, your own mousemat design uses a flame, just like several earlier designs including the first one

If you think that is original enough than ok! And for mousemat design the keywords are “Fuel the fire”. So i, like many others, think that people from NSspeed want some fire in design :) and It is maybe little different.

I wasn’t having a go at your mousemat design – it’s actually quite nice – I was just pointing out that my logo isn’t copied from another and I don’t think it’s close enough to any others for you to start having a pop at me. People come up with similar designs all the time .. it doesn’t mean anything untoward’s happened.

You were basically insinuating I’d copied the idea – or at the very least making it look like I had to others.

Why single my logo out when so many others also came up with similar solutions?

Have a read of this story about Quark’s logo.

Anyway, since when was there any rule about “not using the same idea” on this site?

Did you see the number of leaves used in the Virtuo logos? Why didn’t you post on all of their logos?

You make it sound like I’ve ripped off someone else’s idea.

I am sorry richquick. My intention was not to be offensive. The logo examples that you pointed are not well designed so i don’t even noticed them. On the other side your logo and logo that i put reference was very well designed and catch me to comment it. I don’t think that you stole or ripoff design. I think IMHO that your and logo that i referenced basically use the same idea with totally different execution which result is totally different design. However, keep up the good work!

Actually, I agree with you richquick (I´ve done the other logo in discussion), similar ideas, but an original logo there… I mean, when I design my logo I´ve tried to put the other “R” leg, but didn´t like the result, so come with the unconventional idea of put just one down… (Many have question why I did it that way). So, I didn´t think you´ve copied it… also if I may say it… looks like everyone is trying to get a R and D letters combination, I think that´s the idea we have in common. So Edie, don´t trouble it so much, this is a competition… and I´m not accusing him of anything, so enjoy the logo you like the most :)

Thanks Hugobel

I think one thing we can all agree on is that both of them are really well-designed logos, so if either of them won the client would have made a great choice!
