Notes:

wanted to portray the family unit with flowers, being more generic than with the actual family.
Having a more symbolic sense to the design.
The flowers colours correspond to the family members, and using the colour palette you stated you liked in that other web page, adding the pink, for the female. And also playing with the sizes of each one.
