About:
OK, not at all a biography. More of a rant. Is anybody else so unbelievably tired of seeing the same crappy competition entries coming up again and again? All you do is change the name, maybe the colors, and slap the same failed design up on the site, hoping again that your lousy logo somehow gets picked… If it didn’t work the first 14 times, its probably not going to work now. How about a little originality? How about something you’ve actually made and used for a client? And why would you upload 10 different versions of the exact same logo??? And I’m not talking about the same company or something like that, but 10 logos that look nearly identical with the possible exception of the type placement or the curve on the “M”. QUANTITY DOES NOT EQUAL QUALITY. And, I swear to God, if I see one more crappy Web 2.0-esque reflection, I’m going to kill myself…. I’m as guilty of it as anyone, yes, but give me a break. Not everything needs a reflection, especially when It doubles the size of the logo (Not to mention making life lousy for the printer who has to make sense of your logo. That’s a whole different story, but take it from someone who’s worked in a print shop, your Photoshop-designed logo with gradients, shadows and textures is absolutely HELL when your client wants business cards and brings in your logo as a .psd or .jpg)
Originally, I thought this was a great idea and a great site to come and look for logo design inspiration, but I’ve become a much less frequent visitor because I’m tired of seeing the same old crap. I still come here for inspiration, but it’s certainly becoming much more frustrating when I don’t see anything different, any innovation. Maybe a different section for the competition entries, accessible only to the posters of the competition to judge for themselves? This probably falls on deaf ears, but this certainly gets it off my chest FINALLY.
....deep breaths….deep breaths…..
